I kept hearing that Simun was really fun, but when I it started I didn’t really like it that much. It could have been because my country had nothing to do with any of the discussions. I had Cuba as my country, it’s not allowed to having really any connections with other countries and its only ally was Venezuela and that country wasn’t in my group. So as you can see it was hard to figure out what my country would say about these issues.
Like I said before my country didn’t have anything to do with the discussion we had, so I don’t think I did very good. I gave a speech ones and I’m sure it was bad and I probly opened my mouth ten more times during those whole three days. I’m sure if I had a different country that was actually involved with the issues than I probly would have done and ok job. Whenever I was in a cactus I was left out of the discussion because my country had nothing to with the issue, so no one would ask me what I thought about the topic. It was hard for me to think of questions to ask the delegates and the things I was going to say were always said before I could say it.
I think I was really prepared for Simun. I knew all about the topics and it also helped that the topics we had were ones we talked about a lot in class. The only problem was that I didn’t know what my country would say about it. I think we should have done more practices in class for procedure and a practice issue. I got as much stuff on Cuba’s history but the info didn’t really help me.
Next year I hope I get a country that is actually involved with the issues. I will be able to participate more and able to ask questions, answer questions, and give speeches. Next time I will get as much information on my country as I can. Maybe next time I will be able to write a resolution if my country is involved. I might not have had the best experience with Simun this year but I hope I do next time I will.

Packistan
If the U.S. occupied Pakistan to secure nuclear materials we might not have to worry as much of getting attacked again. Pakistan is the most unstable and dangerous country in the world, and if we had control over their nuclear materials then the Al-Qaida couldn’t get a hold of these nuclear weapons. Right now the Al-Qaida is about 60 meters away from the nuclear base in Pakistan. So if we took control over that base we could chase the Al-Qaida away or even capture them. The nuclear material is secured, but the government isn’t. So if the U.S. did get control over their nuclear base there would be a better chance that the Al-Qaida won’t get a hold of it.
At any moment the Al-Qaida could somehow get a hold of those nuclear weapons by bribing the government or even taking it over. If they do get a hold of those nuclear weapons guess who their going to come after, the U.S. Since it is very rarely that the U.S. will get control over Pakistan’s nuclear base it might be easier in stopping the transportation of the material. If the Pakistani government is not strong enough then the U.S. should try and give them assists.

Does my Head Look Big in This?
Amal Mohamed Nasrullah Adel-Hakin is a Muslim teenager who has decided to become a full timer at wearing the hijab, but her parents are making her go to a private school. Her parents are worried about the principal not letting her wear it because of the different religion, but Amal’s religion isn’t really any different than the religion at the private school which is Catholic. So do you think that Amal should not be allowed to wear her traditional hijab that represents her faith?
Amal’s religion still believes in God and Jesus, they just don’t believe that Jesus was God or the son of God. They believe that Jesus was one of the mightiest prophets of God, and performed miracles with God’s permission. So if Amal still believes in the God and Jesus and the same miracles he made than why would this be such a big thing for a Muslim to come to this kind of private school? The Principal believes that Amal with create a huge controversy with the school board and the Catholic Church. It’s not like Amal is going to try and change the students mind about being a catholic, she just wants to practice her own religion.
When Amal first started at this new private school she was afraid that the students were going to be calling her names because she chose to wear the hijab, like towel head. Once Amal met a couple students and she became really good friends with them she didn’t care about what anybody else thought. In fact all the student were really curious to learn about Amal’s religion. Including Adam, the guy she has a huge crush on. Amal is a normal teenager, with regular teenager problem, the only thing that is different from her and other teenagers is that she chose to wear a hijab and she should have to be treated differently because of it.

My Sister's Wedding
It was July 25 and it was the day of my sisters wedding. I was a nervous wreck because I was the maid of honor. That night I couldn’t sleep at all because of how nervous I was. When the morning came I was hoping to see the sun shining, unfortunately it was gloomy, humid, and rainy. So that didn’t start off my morning well but it got worse. When the hair stylist was doing my hair I could tell my hair wasn’t corroperating. I looked in the mirror; my hair was a disaster (similar to Ursula’s from little mermaid). Thank god the other hair stylish fixed it up and it looked so much better. When my hair was done I looked outside and saw it was sunny, birds singing, and the temperature was just right.
When everyone was done getting their hair done and getting ready, the photographer showed up. That was another hour or so and than the party bus showed up. The bus took us to St. John church. This church was huge, it had a balcony, an isle way the sizes of a main street, plus it was also a hotel. Before I new it, it was time for the ceremony to start. We all lined up outside the doors to the church, and walked in one by one. When it was my turn my knees were knocking, lips chattering all because of nerves. Once I made it down the isle I was perfectly fine, until my sister came walking down the isle way with my dad, then I lost it. I started cry when I saw my sister’s future husband crying. I final was able to pull my self together to help my sister fixed her dress and vale when she sat down. I was fine for the rest of the ceremony and able to take in this memory that I will never forget. I couldn’t believe that I didn’t want to be my sister’s maid of honor, but when that day finally came I was grateful for being a big party of her wedding. After the ceremony was done it was time for the reception and I knew that was going to be the best part of that day.

winter olympics
It’s 2010 and we all know that this is the year of another Olympic games. It’s a time when a group of countries come together in one city to compete in these wonderful games we like to call the Winter Olympics Games. So far the U.S. are in lead of medals awarded. We have 30 medals all together, 8 Gold, 10 Silver, and 12 Bronze. This year they are hosted in Vancouver, Canada. Everybody has their favorite sports to watch and mine are Snowboarding, Alpine Skiing, and Hockey.
Snowboarding is my favorite thing to do in the winter and to watch pro snowboarders compete is so cool to watch. For Snowboarding they have the the half pipe and down hill racing. Shaun White won another Gold Metal in the half pipe with his new move he invented called the "Tomahawk". So far the U.S. Snowboarding team has 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronze.
Another interesting sport that I like to watch during the Olympics is Alpine Skiing. Lindsey Vann won a Gold Metal in the downhill race with a time of 1.44.19. and Julia Mancuso won the Silver with a time of 1.44.75. so far the U.S. Alpine team has 2 Golds, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze.
Hockey is alway a big sport in the Winter Olympic games and since the games are in Canada it's even bigger. This year the U.S. beat the Canadians in one of their bracket games with a score of 5 to 3. This game was very intense Canada was controlling most of the 1st quarter but the U.S. pulled threw and played a tremendous game. All the U.S. has to do know is win one more game and they will than be playing for the Gold. it is mostly that the U.S. will be facing Canada Again in finals.
GO U.S.A!

A Day of Fun that Turned into A Tragedy
It was a Saturday afternoon and Allie and I were at Brenna’s house to go sledding. We were all pumped to go sledding, but we didn’t know that we would be risking our lives to save an innocent animal. When we got to the side of the house where the hill was, we saw how big of a drop it was going to be. When you’re standing at the top of the hill it looks like a normal drop but if you look a little further down you notice the drop that goes straight down. So we went down a couple times but the drop is what made it fun. Allie was going down at this point and she started to drift to the left of the hill, but where the drop usually was there was a bump that looked like a ramp. She was screaming her head and then we saw her go flying into the air, at least 4ft. she came down and landed in a huge pile of snow. You couldn’t even see he head, but all of a sudden we see her head pop up. She crawls out of the snow but she notice that she lost her glove, we searched and searched but we couldn’t find it. So while Allie goes back inside to get another pair of gloves I and Brenna decide to go in to the woods and hide.
Allie came out looking for us for at least five mins. And she had no idea where we were. So after she started to get frustrated we pop our head out from behind the 5ft log pile. Once she reaches us Brenna says we should walk down to the creek that was I the woods. We started to walk in the direction of the creek when we hear Brenna’s dog Gabby following us. She follows us all the way there but on our way there we had to cross over huge trees that had fallen and a bridge that was made by two 2by 4’s. Once we got to the other side of the creek I said we should get back to the other side by climbing across one of the trees that had fallen. We all thought it was going to be a fun thing to do, what we didn’t know was how dumb Gabby is.
We went across one by one. Allie slipped and had to catch herself before she fell into the water. She climbed back on and we all crossed over safely or so we thought. Allie and I had made it over and Brenna was almost to the side. Then we see Gabby run across the thin ice and our hearts dropped because we thought Gabby was going to fall in. she made it across thank god, but once she got to the other side she decides to do it again. Only this time she falls threw the ice. We all start to panic and rush to the side of the creek. We all try grabbing her but when Allie tries she falls. I grabbed Allie by her coat and pulled her out of 20 below water. Brenna tries to grab her by her collar, but the collar starts to slip off her head. So we grab the fat on her neck and pull her into safety. Right when Gabby gets out of the water her fur turns into icicles. We rush back to Brenna’s and put Gabby into the shower to get her warm. We all couldn’t believe that we almost lost Gabby that day and from now on we will never go back to the creek in the middle of the winter with Gabby following us.

China Rejects U.S. Complaints on its Currency

The U.S. should stop pressuring China on raising the value of their currency
China is known for having low value in their currency, and that is why many countries depend on them in selling low price goods, including the United States. China’s currency is undervalued 25 to 40 percent compared to the dollar and currencies in other countries. By China keeping their currency value down they attract more customers, and by that their economy goes up. So fair China’s economy is doing way better than the U.S. and China isn’t going to give up being the number one exporting country for anything.
Obama keeps on pushing China to do the things he wants them to do, and they haven’t listened to him yet. So I think it’s time that Obama takes another approach or just forgets about how well China is doing and start working on how to get the U.S. economy back on its feet. If Obama hates how low China is selling their good for, than maybe he needs to stop buying those goods from them and maybe start making our own goods here in the U.S.
